Scotland in Union with England, 1800 to the present dayの概略
 
1. Background, including references to the recent revisionism in scholarship on the making of union.
2. Anxieties in the 19th c. Scotland about losing identity
            Unionist Nationalism - celebrating the distinctive contribution of Scotland in the British state and Empire without wanting to leave it or modify it at any basic level.
               Cultural Nationalism - emphasising the national character of Scotland
 e.g. in museums and galleries, and in the Celtic revival
               Problems of contemporaries in perceiving Scotland as Saxon or Celtic
   3. Twentieth -century crisis.
               The rise and character of modern political nationalism
               Relevance of social and economic change
               Devolution
